Low Carbon Transport

Low Carbon Transport is one of the themes our collaborative Climate Programme covers. Its goal is to reduce road journeys made by petrol and diesel by half, and encourage more sustainable and active travel options.

Our focus over the next two years will be to strengthen London’s data and evidence on pathways and interventions to reduce transport emissions, while providing support and guidance for boroughs to implement low carbon transport strategies and infrastructure.

Low Carbon Transport will develop London’s sub-regional approach to EV (electric vehicles) charging planning and roll-out to enable the shift to EVs, while providing support and coordination for the successful expansion of micro-mobility.

The lead boroughs for Low Carbon Transport are Royal Borough of Kingston and City of Westminster.

Our two-year implementation plan identified key deliverables for 2023-24 and assessed the resource requirements to deliver this first phase of implementation and build a sustainable longer-term programme of work.

Low Carbon Transport Action Plan

The purpose of this action plan is to set a pathway to achieve the ambition set out in London Councils' Joint Statement on Climate Change.

This plan is designed to support all boroughs to achieve the headline ambition, whilst recognising that requirements and resourcing will vary from borough to borough.
