Children’s Minister Ed Timpson to address capital care conference

Children’s Minister Ed Timpson MP will give the keynote address at the annual conference for professionals involved with caring for vulnerable children in the capital, London Councils revealed today.

The London Care Services conference, organised by London Care Services (LCS), showcases outstanding services for children with special educational needs and children looked after away from home in special schools, residential and foster care.

London boroughs and their colleagues in the independent sector will discuss the commissioning and procurement of outstanding services for children in care and with special educational needs. Last year, over 200 delegates including managers and practitioners from independent fostering agencies, residential care homes and residential special schools attended. 

The conference takes place on 11 February 2014, at the Kia Oval in Kennington. Booking is open to all, at a cost of £60, with a number of free places are still available to London boroughs. Edward Timpson is the Conservative MP for Crewe and Nantwich and was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families in September 2012.

  • Richard Cross from Five Rivers childcare and Dr Celia Becket from Bournemouth University on assessing the emotional wellbeing of looked after children to enable effective intervention.
