Other funders

London Councils is not the only organisation providing grants to the voluntary and community sector

Below is a small selection of other funders. Please note that there are many other smaller funders out there.

London Funders is the membership organisation of funders and investors in London’s voluntary and community sector (VCS). Its mission is to strengthen and support funders to better meet the needs of Londoners.

London Plus is the new name for GLV, London's volunteering and civil society charity bringing London voluntary and community sector organisations together to learn and share best practice and to create a co-ordinated voice to influence policy makers.

The City Bridge Trust makes grants of £15 million a year to charitable projects benefiting the inhabitants of Greater London.

The London Housing Foundation  is a charitable trust committed to assisting agencies in London that are working to prevent homelessness and to secure better futures for single homeless people. The LHF provides funding for initiatives aimed at personal development or organisational transitions, and also supports organisations through a transition by providing them with expert consultancy help.

Trust for London(CPF) aims to enable and empower the poor of London to tackle poverty and its root causes, and ensure that its funds reach those most in need.

Big Lottery Fund Every year BIG gives out millions of pounds from the National Lottery to good causes. The money goes to community groups and to projects that improve health, education and the environment.

Esmée Fairbairn Foundation 

Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-making foundations in the UK. Its primary interests are in the UK's cultural life, education, the natural environment and enabling people who are disadvantaged to participate more fully in society.

Directory of Social Change's Trustfunding.org.uk website

Trustfunding details all trusts included within DSC and CAF publications and is updated regularly throughout the year. It includes information on over 4,200 grant-making trusts with a total of over £3.1 billion a year.

Funding Central 

This website was recently launched and is a free guide for the whole voluntary and community sector, including social enterprise.
