Do you want to help London boroughs protect and improve the environment and ensure that London has the best transport provision for all Londoners? Working in London Councils policy team you will develop advice and policy on the impact of spending reductions, investment in London’s transport infrastructure, improving London’s air quality, finding solutions to London’s energy needs and develop creative and collective approaches to issues such as waste management and flooding?

This is a generic policy post within a directorate covering every aspect of policy in London. The immediate need is in the Transport and Environment policy team where you will have opportunities to shape service delivery strategies and leave your mark on the London transport and environment landscape.
It is desirable for you to have experience of contributing to policy development in these policy areas.
The role will require that you analyse policy and statistical information, applying your understanding to deliver better outcomes for Londoners and to make London’s case to both central government and a range of critical stakeholders and partners in London government. This will require you to build effective relationships across sectors, communicate, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders. You will need political awareness and sensitivity to succeed in forging policies that command cross party support. Your experience of creative problem solving and managing a varied workload of projects in a pressurised environment will be invaluable to the post.
