Older persons Freedom pass renewals

What do I need to do to renew my Older Person's Freedom Pass?

If our residency checks identify that you have not changed address, your renewed Older Person's Freedom Pass will be automatically posted to your home address. You should receive your renewed pass by the 14th March 2025.

My address has changed since I received my last pass

If our residency checks identify that you may have moved from the address we currently hold for you, London Councils will send you an email, if we hold an email address for you, or send you a letter to the postal address we have on file in January 2025. 

You will be asked to renew your Older Person's Freedom Pass online or by post and provide proof of your address in London.   

You can update your address at any time by sending one of the documents listed by email or post:

• Current council tax bill/letter/payment book
• Current council/housing association rent book/statement/letter/tenancy agreement
• Current television licence
• Residential utility bill/letter/online statement printout (we do not accept mobile phone bills) - Must be dated within the last 3 months
• HM Revenue and Customs letter - Must be dated within the last 3 months
• Department for Work and Pensions letter - Must be dated within the last 3 months
• Occupational pension letter - Must be dated within the last 3 months

Please include your previous address as this will help us to locate and update your record.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The 5 year expiry date on the Freedom Pass is the lifespan of the card chip, and is not how long someone is entitled to hold the pass for.  Therefore, if you no longer meet the eligibility criteria for the Freedom Pass you hold it can be stopped at any time.
