The government has invoked Article 50, marking the start of the process for Britain exiting the European Union.
Cllr Peter John OBE, Deputy Chair of London Councils and executive member for business, skills and Brexit, said:
“There are over one million European Londoners – our friends, neighbours, colleagues and carers. Assuring their status must be the Government’s number one priority now that Article 50 has been triggered.
London’s vibrant economy contributes £35 billion every year to the UK exchequer and skilled workers from all over the world are vital to the city’s growth. European Londoners need a seamless guarantee that they can continue to play an integral part in our communities, delivering public services and helping our businesses to grow.”
