Chair of London Councils' Transport and Environment Committee (Lab)

Councillor Julian Bell was elected as chair of London Councils’ Transport and Environment Committee (TEC) on 17 July 2014.

He was elected to the London Borough of Ealing in 2002 and is now serving his fourth term. He became leader of the council in 2010. As leader, Cllr Bell’s priorities have been to promote safety in the borough, secure public services, secure jobs and homes, improve the local environment and deliver value for money.

After studying politics and economics at university, Cllr Bell began working for the Labour Party in 1994. He has run several election campaigns and now works for the MP for Ealing Southall, Virendra Sharma, in addition to his role as leader.

Cllr Bell is married and has four daughters. His eldest Angellica is a presenter on TV and radio. A passionate football fan, he is an ardent supporter of Sheffield United and England.
