About London STEM

London faces a considerable skills shortage in a range of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) industries, including computing, life sciences and engineering. Given the anticipated challenges facing London as a result of leaving the European Union and general shifts in the labour market, there is a need to address the capital’s future skills challenges in STEM industries now through inspiring and engaging young Londoners.

London boroughs are undertaking exciting and innovative work with local partners, including schools, businesses and local education business partnerships, to provide local opportunities for young people and engage them in STEM subjects and careers. These case studies give just a few examples of this work.
