Blog: Homelessness Hackathon

published 21 March 2017

On Monday 13th March we held our first Solution Hackathon, bringing together passionate and creative thinkers from a range of sectors to find innovative ideas to tackle homelessness.

The day kicked off with Christa Maciver from Justlife - a charity working with people who are close to the streets - talking about experiences of temporary accommodation in Manchester & Brighton.

Inspired and ready to go, attendees then worked in facilitated groups to consider problem statements and turn concepts into a reality (with numerous post-it notes).

It was a fast-paced event, with lots of energy and fresh ideas in the room. The groups had a chance to refine their ideas and build them into commercially viable solutions before the day culminated with our very own 'Dragon’s Den' style session!

Attendees pitched to the judges, who assessed the ideas on quality, outcome focus, deliverability and commercial sustainability.

The best solutions will be taken to our next Think Tank meeting, where our panel of subject matter experts will consider them for future funding and partnership.

Thank you to everyone who took part!
