In June 2016 UK voted to leave the EU by 52% to 48%. Once Article 50 has been invoked the UK has up to two years to negotiate the details of the exit deal. In the interim and whilst negotiations are proceeding, the UK will continue to be a member of the EU and will remain eligible for EU funding programmes. The UK treasury has confirmed that any funding agreement secured for Horizon 2020 prior to BREXIT will be fully honoured for the full term of the project(s) even if this extends beyond BREXIT.
Therefore for the time being, LEPT will continue operating as normal through its communication activities and, where relevant opportunities arise, by partnering, brokering and leading bids on behalf of London Boroughs. Depending on the details of any exit the UK may well continue to have access to EU funding after we leave the EU.
We are aware that there are still many more questions that need to be answered and we will ensure that we provide these as they come through. In the meantime if any boroughs have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the LEPT team.
