The new contract for London Ventures, which facilitates public-private sector collaborations that increase efficiency and effectiveness of London’s public services, has been awarded to EY.
The decision was made at the Capital Ambition Board meeting last week.
The current London Ventures programme has been in existence for over three years and generated an estimated £6 million worth of benefit to London boroughs.
Recent London Ventures projects include a personal safety smartphone app and a video calling system designed to reduce isolation for elderly and disabled people.
Edward Lord OBE, Chair of the Capital Ambition Board, said:
“The London Ventures programme has been designed to ensure the 32 boroughs and the City of London have ready access to trusted partners who can help deliver greater performance, better services and on-going efficiencies.
“After careful consideration we decided that EY was the best organisation to continue the important and highly specialised work that London Ventures undertakes to enable innovation from the private sector to take root and flourish in London boroughs. This new phase of the programme will seek to address some of the key challenges facing London local government, and will deliver opportunities for London at a greater scale and pace.
Given the difficult financial situation facing local government, these projects will prove vital in the months and years ahead.”
Darra Singh, Head of Local Public Services at EY, said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded the London Ventures contract. The programme has so far supported public sector transformation and ultimately helped deliver improved outcomes for Londoners. We look forward to expanding the programme’s ambition and reach and building on the successes to date.”
The new London Ventures contract spans three years with an option to extend for a further four years in two-year instalments. It will commence on Tuesday 23 August 2016.
