London Councils has made a representation to the government’s multi-year Spending Review.
In this representation, London Councils makes the case for investment to end the crisis in town hall finances and to boost boroughs’ role as local champions for economic growth.
Boroughs are determined to work with the government to address the urgent challenges facing our city and the country. Councils have a pivotal part to play in delivering growth and the government’s national missions. However, a quarter of London boroughs require Exceptional Financial Support to balance their budgets in 2025-26 and this will only grow without sustainable funding for demand-led services in the following three years.
