Events across the London boroughs

Monday 25th November marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign calling for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. The campaign runs for 16 days until the 10th December, which is Human Rights Day. 

London boroughs and local VAWG organisations are marking the 16 days with a number of events across the capital. Please click below to find out more information about what each borough is doing. 

Barking and Dagenham

  • 25 November: Flag raising ceremony outside of Barking Town Hall, followed by information stalls in Barking Town Centre, 12:30pm. 

     

  • 2 December: "The Invisible Perpetrator" Symposium - 8:45am to 14:00pm at Barking Learning Centre Conference Room, 2 Town Square, Barking IG11 7NB. Register via the link or by emailing sasha.timmermans@lbbd.gov.uk

     

Brent

  • 25 November: Launch Event, Atrium – Brent Civic Centre, 11:00am to 1:00pm

     

  • 29 November: PLIAS Resettlement – Domestic Homicide Review & Criminal Justice Summit, W12 Conferences, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Book your place for the summit

     

  • 4 December: Brent Council – Time to Talk: Women’s Safety, 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Brent Civic Centre. Book your place for the Talk

Croydon

  • 25 November: VAWG Awareness Walk, Town Hall Light and Vigil, outside M&S Croydon High Street, 4:00pm

     

  • 9 December: Launch Expert by Experience Panel.  

     

  • 10 December: The Hidden Epidemic: #NoExcuse for Femicide Against Black and Brown Women, Online. 7pm to 8:30pm. Book your place for the online event

  • 3 December: VAWG/Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)/Women’s Health Awareness Event for the Community, 10:00am to 2:00pm. Perceval House, 14-16 Longfield Avenue, W5. Book your place for the event

 

  • 7 December: Ealing Police VAWG Walk & Talk, 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Perivale Train Station.

  • 6 December: Enfield Women’s Centre – Remembering the victims of Gender Based Violence, 10:30am to 12:00pm, online. Email info@enfieldwomen.org.uk to participate.

Hounslow

  • 27 November: Internal event - Male White Ribbon Champions. The Council Leader will present certificates to individuals in recognition of their commitment to ending violence against women and girls. This year’s White Ribbon theme is, “It Starts with Men,” and emphasises the vital role men play in this campaign. The event will be in collaboration with SheWise, who will be providing information about their services. 

 

  • 28 November: Internal event - Distribution of White Ribbon and 16 Days of activism merchandise to staff members as well as updates on social media. 

Kensington and Chelsea

Lambeth

  • 25 November: Premiere Screening - 'People must do something' - 7pm-10pm. The film tackles the critical issue of violence against women and girls, with a focus on equipping and challenging Christian faith communities. Following the screening, a panel of experts will lead a Q&A, exploring questions about change for women and girls. Book your place for the Premiere Screening.

Lewisham

  • 25 November: Beyond Equality – Male Allyship Workshop, 9:30am to 12:00pm, The Salvation Army 23-25 Brownhill Rd, SE6 2HE. 

 

 

  • 6 December: Domestic Abuse Awareness Event, 1:00pm to 2:00pm, Bellingham Family Hub, 109-111 Randlesdown Road, SE6 3HB.

  • 3 December: Wimbledon Football Club are promoting White Ribbon at their home game at 7:45pm. Tickets for the match can be purchased on the Wimbledon's club website
