Review of the Mayor's municipal waste management strategy

High level position statement


London Councils Transport and Environment Committee


In anticipation of the Mayor’s revisions to the existing Municipal Waste Management Strategy, ‘Rethinking Rubbish’, London Councils Transport and Environment Committee (TEC) has developed a Position Statement setting out our priorities for London.

London Councils urges the Mayor to consider the points set out in detail in the accompanying document which forms an agreed position of the cross-party member group representing London’s 32 boroughs and the City of London.

We have a vision to move London towards a ‘zero waste to landfill’ goal over the next 20 years and recognise that success will depend on productive and effective collaboration between the GLA and London waste authorities.
