Permissions for vehicles now last for three years instead of one year

In order to reduce administration of the London Lorry Control Scheme for hauliers and London Councils, from 1 March 2011 permissions given to vehicles to use restricted routes under the scheme will last for three years, rather than one year.

Temporary permissions will not be changed, so companies that do not use restricted routes on a regular basis will still need to apply as they do currently.

With this change to the Scheme, it is all the more important that companies inform London Councils of any changes of information for the vehicles, particularly when vehicles change ownership, or are leased to other companies.

This will help London Councils to keep an accurate record of vehicles and will avoid Penalty Charge Notices being sent to the wrong company.
