The Borough is interested in cost effective ways of monitoring and evaluating measures we employ to promote sustainable transport - be they 'hard' engineering or 'soft' marketing and information. In particular we are keen to develop ways of improving our understanding of residents travel behaviour over time and how best we can influences this at different life stages. Increasing our ability to segment our population and thus better target our campaign resources and messages at those most likely to change is also of interest. The development of a bespoke 'customer relationship management' solution which allows us to achieve these goals is a key priority for 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Improving access for those who work or live in the borough to easy to understand real time travel information - particularly for bus services, is a key area for 2010/11. The authority is interested in increasing the number of communication channels this information is available from, including printed media, web, mobile and on-street digital displays coupled with state-of-the art wayfaring and static signage. In addition, how best to deliver information and promotional material about support services available from the Borough for sustainable transport (particularly cycling) to residents at a time when they are most likely to need (and utilise) it is also of interest.
