In considering the equalities implications, London Councils will have due regard to the following equalities groups in particular, referred to as ‘protected equalities groups’ under the Equality Act 2010:

  • Age (including both children, young persons and those over 50)
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and Civil Partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race
  • Religion or belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual Orientation

At this stage, London Councils is considering the equalities implications of the likely reduction to its Grants programme and of any changes to its principles and priorities. As set out below, London Councils is taking into account evidence about the groups which currently benefit from the Grants programme, the level of need in London and the possible impact of reducing funding.
