Have you been helped by a London Councils grant?
We'd love to hear from you! Please read our guidance on how to submit your case study...
We are looking for case studies from commissioned groups to use in the media and in update reports for our members. Although there is a description of your London Councils funded work on our website in our Grants Directory Opens in a new window we'd like to show the more personal impact that your work has on individuals or groups that you support.
We're after a personal story from somebody who's benefited from your service. (This could be an individual if you are frontline or about an organisation if you are second tier). It doesn't need to be long - between 200 and 300 words would be perfect. We'll use the stories on the case studies section of our website, include them in update reports for members and send them to journalists if they ask for case studies.
If you have any photographs of your project in action, we'd love to receive them too. Please ensure you have permission from the service user/ organisation (for second tier). It is really important that you include information on which borough the person is from (or the location of the organisation supported if second tier). This will enable us to provide relevant information relating to each borough.
If you would like to be included in this project, please send your Text (and photographs if you have any) by 31 August 2011 to funding@londoncouncils.gov.uk

Example from website:
"The police first give me the telephone number for Jigsaw. I was at a police station as I had been getting threatening phone calls from a member of my own family in Pakistan. I moved to the UK because I was tortured in my own country for being gay.
When I first got in contact with Jigsaw I was literally on the streets and in fear of my life. My solicitor had also been making homophobic remarks. I was really beginning to give up hope.
Within a few hours Jigsaw got me somewhere safe I could stay temporarily. They have also been helping me make plans for the rest of my life. They made sure I am represented with a solicitor who is understanding of my situation and who will make sure I'm treated fairly. Then they got me a mentor who I see every week, I can speak to him about all sorts and he has been helping me look at courses and training I could enrol on.
My worker helps me with all sorts and I can talk to them about anything I know they won't judge me. I get invited to social events as well and get to meet other young people who are in a similar position. They have even helped with reporting a crime to the police. They have helped me with so much more than just my housing. I like the way I can access a whole range of stuff through Jigsaw, it's good that I don't have to tell my story over and over again. I now feel I have my life back".
