background: young director and actor
status: now working with other theatres and drama schools
funding: ended 15 August 2011
"Training as a director with Kristine Landon-Smith through the Tamasha Developing Artists (TDA) Programme has been invaluable.
Having previously acted in three Tamasha productions, I pursued my interest in directing as a participant in Design Direct 2007 (a two week course for British Asian directors and designers) which led to me working as assistant director on Tamasha's first production with a young people's cast, Lyrical MC in 2008 and most recently observed Design Direct 2009.
Not only has the training informed me on how to approach an actor and direction but it has also helped me gain recognition with other theatre companies. I have since worked with Mousetrap Theatre on their young people's projects as well as working with Unicorn Theatre, where I had the opportunity to direct their ensemble for their new writing festival. I have also been working with East 15 drama school specifically being brought in to teach improvisation and I'm sure that this would not have been possible if Kristine hadn't mentored me."
