Mr K is a 38 year old asylum seeker from Palestine living in Haringey. He came to the UK in 2007 following political unrest and persecution in the Gaza strip. He is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression because of his experiences and has a learning disability.

Assisted by his immigration solicitor and the British Red Cross, Mr K’s case was brought to the attention of the Asylum Support Appeals Project (ASAP), a small specialist charity focused on asylum support law. This came via a call to ASAP’s Advice Line for refugee and advice agencies.

At the Tribunal,Mr K received specialist legal advice from one of ASAP’s legal advocates. He was then represented in his appeal by the advocate who argued successfully that his support should continue to avoid a breach of his human rights. As a result, Mr K continues to have a roof over his head and has avoided street homelessness whilst his human rights case remains on-going.
