Geoff* got the Law Centre details from a friend and approached the centre about his outstanding pay which his employers refused to pay him. He had been dismissed for gross misconduct without his full entitlement – hours worked. We initially advised him generally about his case including steps to take to recover the sum owed and the Employment Tribunal time limits. We advised him to try and resolve issues informally by doing a simple letter / letter of grievance about his outstanding pay to his employers.
We helped Geoff draft a letter which he sent to his employers. As his employers still refused to pay, we (The Law Centre) wrote a letter before action to his employer. Subsequently, we filed an Employment Tribunal Claim on behalf of the client.
The case has now been settled and Geoff has received his full entitlement including outstanding holiday pay. Geoff is very pleased with the outcome as he is now able to settle all his outstanding bills, including rent arrears. He is still looking for another job but is very hopeful that something would turn up soon.
