Eligible age changes: There has been a further change in the eligible age which affects people born after 6 April 1953...

The eligible age for the older persons’ Freedom Pass was linked to the women’s state retirement age in April 2010. The Pensions Act 2011 which received Royal Assent on 3 November 2011 moves this retirement age from 65 to 66 in 2020. The provision came into force on 3 January 2012. People born after 6 April 1953 now have to wait longer to receive their Freedom Pass than had been planned with the 2010 change. In particular people born on or after 6 October 1954 will have to wait to their 66th birthday to get their pass.  The Eligibility Age Checker on the Freedom Pass website will be modified to reflect this change as soon as possible.
