Q. Why does the online tracker not recognise my tracker number?
A. If you have processed your application via the Post Office a receipt will be provided to you with a tracking number of your application. You can track the progress of your application online now at tracker.freedompass.org - please leave 2-3 working days from when you submit it at the Post Office before trying to track it. If you don't receive your pass within 10 working days be assured that it is on its way. Old passes can no longer be used for free travel.
Q. My new card hasn't arrived yet
A. It does sometimes taking more than 10 working days to produce the cards. You can track the progress of your new card at http://tracker.freedompass.org/.
Cards are sent out by 2nd class post. If the online tracker shows that your card has been dispatched, it may take a week to reach you in the post. If you still don’t receive your card after this time please contact us again and we will cancel the card and reissue you with a replacement.
Q. What do I do if my name has been misspelled on my Freedom Pass?
A. Send an email to londoncouncils@journeycall.com including your name, home address and date of birth, or call our helpline (0845 275 7054). We will cancel your current card and reissue you with a corrected version.
Q. Will I be affected by the by the change of the aged-based eligibility criteria?
A. Existing pass holders will not be affected. However anyone born after on 6th April 1950 or later will get their pass after their 60th birthday. Please refer to the our guidance on the new age of eligibility.
Q. Can someone go on my behalf to apply for the Freedom Pass?
A. No, you must apply in person.
Q. If I work or study in London but do not live in a London borough can I apply for a Freedom Pass?
A. No, your sole or principal residence must be in a London borough.
Q. I am aged 60 or over and still working, am I eligible for a Freedom Pass?
A. Applications for a Freedom Pass are based on your age and where you live, not on your employment status. If you are aged 60 or over before the 6 April 2010 and your sole or principal residence is within one of the 33 London boroughs, then you can apply for a Freedom Pass up to 14 days ahead of your birthday. If you are born after 6 April 1950 it will be 14 days before the date you are eligible for a Freedom Pass - see our guidance on the age of eligibility.
Q. I have a disability. Can I apply for a Freedom Pass?
A. Disabled persons Freedom Passes are issued through your local borough council. The councils follow the criteria set out by the Transport Act 2000 which outlines the 7 categories of disability used to assess eligibility for a Freedom Pass.
Local councils may at their discretion in exceptional circumstances issue passes to disabled people that do not meet these criteria. For further details see the discretionary passes page
Q. Are carers entitled to a Freedom Pass when they travel with a Freedom Pass holder?
A. No. Applicants must be eligible through age or disability.
A Freedom Pass holder who finds it too difficult to travel using public transport alone in certain circumstances could apply for the Taxicard scheme which is also managed by London Councils.
This service provides subsidised door to door taxi trips in licensed taxis and Private Hire Vehicles for people with serious mobility problems.

Q. I cannot access a photo booth - what should I do?
A. You may submit any suitable full face photographs cut down to approximately 3.5cm wide by 4.5cm long (passport size).
