Dealing responsibly with debt

London Councils recommends two simple ways for boroughs to support residents who have decided to put their finances in order:

1) Promote these reputable websites, where residents can find free, confidential and reliable information, and interactive debt management tools.

    The websites also provide a number for advice by phone:

• www.nationaldebtline.co.uk
• www.cccs.co.uk
• www.payplan.com
• http://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk

2) Assist residents to find confidential and reliable face to face debt advice from a local advice centre or solicitor, by using a post code search on the Community Legal Service website
