The London Collaborative

The London Collaborative is providing pan-London leadership and a forum for better partnership working to tackle key challenges facing the capital, says Anna Shandro, research and programme support for the London Collabroative's local innovation team

The London Collaborative is an ambitious programme designed to improve the capacity of London’s public sector to work across boundaries of place, profession and organisation in order to meet future challenges facing the capital.

It aims to make London a city where the whole of the talent and resources within its public sector institutions is greater than the sum of its parts.

The London Collaborative has two main strands of activity:

  • Leadership for a collaborative city: building resilience, adaptive capacity and a sense of a ‘London mission’ within a network of public sector managers, established by means of ideas evenings, learning events and supporting activities.
  • Practical collaboration on specific future challenges for London: working with members of the leadership network, academics and other stakeholders to make a difference in four areas, each championed by council chief executives: worklessness in social housing; behaviour change; carbon reduction, and understanding and managing population flows.
