Issue 55: November /December 2008

The November/December issue of London Bulletin takes a look at the pressing issue of serious youth violence and the work of the boroughs, in partnership with the police and other agencies across the capital, to divert young people from the deadly lure of gangs, guns and knives.

This issue also includes features on: the capital's cultural improvement programme, providing a boost to London's libraries and museums at the start of the cultural olympiad; a new scheme to ease the transition into work for benefit claimants being piloted in Lambeth; a preview of the capital's first 'polyclinic' due to open in Redbridge next spring; a look at the impact of housing market turmoil in the capital and what councils can do to protect their residents from the fall-out of the credit crunch; and a special focus on Streetwise Opera, winners of this year's Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards.

The online version of the magazine also inlcudes a bonus feature on preparing for the darker side of the Halloween and Fireworks season.
