Mayoral meeting
London Councils Chairman Cllr Merrick Cockell met with Mayor Boris Johnson shortly after his election to discuss opportunities for closer collaboration between the Mayor, the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the boroughs. Mayor Johnson is due to attend London Councils' Leaders' Committee on 10 June.

Post Office closures
London Councils has welcomed the Mayor of London's support for boroughs in their fight against the closure of post offices across the capital. It has also backed the Mayor's decision to continue to pursue a legal challenge to the proposed closures. Plans to close a further 155 branches in London, announced by Post Office Ltd last week, would mean that a total of 474 post offices would have been closed in the capital in six years.
