Mayoral and Assembly results

A record 45 per cent turnout in the Mayoral and Assembly elections last week saw Boris Johnson elected as Mayor of London with more than 1.1 million votes. The Conservative party also gained two seats on the Greater London Assembly (GLA), while Labour gained one and the Liberal Democrats lost two. The Green party held its two seats on the Assembly. The British National Party gained its first seat on the Assembly.

London Councils recently published a prospectus, Trusting Devolution, that called on the Mayor and others to work with London local authorities to develop more local solutions to the challenges the capital faces. London Councils will now be working with the new Mayor to develop practical ways of delivering more partnership working.
