London Child Poverty report

A major new report, Capital Gains, setting out a series of recommendations on how to reduce the capital's persistently high rates of child poverty, will be published by the London Child Poverty Commission on 28 February. The commission was set up by London Councils and the Mayor of London two years ago.

Post Office closures

London Councils has expressed deep concern at plans to close up to 171 London post offices revealed by Post Office Ltd last week.

Bills progress

The 10th 'London Local Authorities Bill' and the third 'London Local Authorities and Transport for London (No.2) Bill' both passed their second reading in the House of Lords last week. Both Bills now proceed to the Select Committee stage.
