London Councils Summit
Nearly 300 people attended London Councils’ sixth annual summit: ‘Shaping London’s Future’ held on 2 June at the QEII conference centre. The keynote speaker was Steve Richards, chief political commentator at The Independent newspaper. Panel members included Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, Kid’s Company founder Camila Batmanghelidjh, head of Friends of the Earth Paul de Zylva and the author Lynsey Hanley.

New powers to tackle anti-social acts
New powers for local authorities to issue fixed penalty notices for a range of anti-social activities, from noise nuisance to flyposting, come into force on 1 July. The powers are contained in the London Local Authorities Act 2004.
