Full details of the parking enforcement statistics of each London borough for the year 2005/06 can be found below. This includes parking, bus lanes and moving traffic Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), and London lorry control scheme.

In total 6,165,971 PCNs were issued in London during that time for illegal parking, using bus lanes, moving traffic offences, and contraventions under the London Lorry Control Scheme. This is a 3.8 per cent increase from the previous year.

The figures show that compared to the previous year:

  • 137,638 fewer PCNs were issued to drivers wrongly using bus lanes
  • London boroughs issued 173,134 fewer PCNs for illegal parking. However following the decriminalisation of the red routes by Transport for London the total number of parking PCNs issued increased by 75,195.
  • 286,822 more PCNs were issued to drivers committing moving traffic offences including stopping in a box junction and going through a no entry sign. More boroughs used the powers to issue PCNs for offences in 2005/06 than the previous year, and it was also the first full year that the powers were available.
  • 699 fewer PCNs were issued to operators and drivers contravening the London Lorry Control Scheme.
