The current stage

The London Plan is the Mayor’s spatial development strategy for London which sets out a series of economic, environmental, transport and social policies for the development of London over the next 20-25 years. It thus has implications for many areas of London Councils’ policy.

The Mayor is currently reviewing the London Plan and we have been working closely with boroughs and the GLA to ensure that the revised plan will give boroughs the flexibility they need to develop proposals which are most appropriate to their local circumstances. Our work has included participation in the Examination in Public (EiP) which took place over summer and autumn 2010.

The inspector’s report on the EiP was published in May 2011. It is anticipated that the Mayor's response to this and the new London Plan itself will be published in summer 2011.
