Trusting devolution: the challenge for London

Policy area: Leadership, devolution and democracy

London Councils published a prospectus that examined some of the key challenges facing the capital in 2008 and proposed a better way of dealing with them.

In place of top-down 'centralist' solutions, Trusting devolution: the challenge for London makes the case for a more localist approach to taking on some of the key challenges facing London. It recognises that the relationship between the individual and their democratic representatives at the level closest to the daily lives of Londoners - the capital's borough councils - is critical to dealing with these issues effectively.
