On 29 September 2010, the Communities and Local Government Department published a consultation on its revised code of practice for local authority publicity. The consultation closed on 10 November. London Councils has responded, following discussion with communications staff across London boroughs.
Many boroughs also responded individually. In its response, London Councils highlighted particular concerns about the code's restriction on the number of local authority publications allowed each year, defended the rights of councils to make decisions locally and commented on the inconsistency with rules binding agencies of national government.
