Council Tax

Council tax is collected and administered by local authorities, partly funding the services they provide.

The Fair Funding team monitors and carries out analysis on council tax, as well as reviewing policy aspects of council tax.

Recent work on issues related to council tax includes:

• December 2010 - Response to the New Homes Bonus Consultation
• September 2010 - Response to proposals to introduce local council tax referendums to veto excessive council tax increases
