We have responded to this second consultation in which we believe strongly that the methodology to calculate the transfer continues to be fundamentally flawed in certain key respects.
The Government is currently considering reforms to the school funding system as part of a two stage consultation process. These are London Councils' responses to both stages of consultation. The second stage closed on 11 October 2011.
Expected shortage in school places across London becomes critical
London boroughs expect that around 70,000 permanent school places will be needed over the next four years to ensure that every pupil has a permanent school place. Funding provided by Government so far has been insufficient to meet demand. Recognising the budgetary constraints at the Department for Education, London Councils has developed a cost neutral solution to London's problem.
