Accurately measuring London's population has never been more important, or more challenging. The 2011 Census will be used to plan services and calculate the level of funding needs for all local authorities for a decade. Getting it right is an opportunity to measure London's population accurately, and reflect issues that are specific to the capital.
This booklet highlights some of our concerns at the approach being adopted for the 2011 Census, and proposes practical actions that should be taken now to strengthen the process and achieve a more accurate result.
London Councils welcomes the House of Commons London Regional Select Committee inquiry into 'London's population and the 2011 Census', and was pleased to provide both written and oral evidence. This booklet is published in advance of the Select Committee's report.
