
London Councils’ Fair Funding and Health & Adult Services teams work jointly on all financial aspects of health and social care policy. Together they ensure that local authorities receive their fair share of resources to look after the most vulnerable adults.
Social care is one the largest spend areas for local authorities. Local authorities are facing the challenge of delivering high quality services at a time of financial challenge and growing demand pressures. London local authorities spend approximately 33 per cent of their budget – or £2bn on adult social care services. With London’s population predicated to reach 8.83 million by 2031, research suggests that London’s spending on adult social care could increase by as much as £460m by 2016/17.
