Water and sewerage are fundamental to the quality of life for individuals and communities. There are a range of important issues and initiatives in this area that will be affecting London in the short, medium and long term and that will have real implications for boroughs.
We are ensuring that the key issues of concern to London boroughs are vigorously represented with regards to the Thames Tunnel by working with Defra (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) officials and ministers, and through the Thames Tunnel Forum and other appropriate channels. The London Waterways Commission (LWC) Opens in a new windowwas established by the Mayor of London to advise the Mayor strategically on waterways issues. It is chaired by chaired by Murad Qureshi AM and membership includes representatives of statutory authorities; the boroughs; voluntary sector and water amenity groups. London Councils' Transport & Environment Committee (TEC) nominates three members to sit on this commission.
