London Councils' response to Defra's proposals for the new local government performance framework

The following document is London Councils' response to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' (Defra) informal consultation on proposals for the new local government performance framework and the specific consultation questions. London Councils' response was developed following consultation with London boroughs and officer groups across the specific policy areas.

London Councils' response is divided into a number of appendices to reflect the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' (Defra) proposed indicators:

• Appendix A: Progress towards a climate-resilient local area.
• Appendix B: Proposed climate change mitigation indicators.
• Appendix C: Reducing waste and making better use of it as a resource.
• Appendix D: Local street and environment cleanliness - litter and detritus.
• Appendix E: Levels of air quality.
• Appendix F: Flood and coastal erosion risk management.
• Appendix G: Water consumption in buildings.

London Councils did not respond on the proposed indicators on "Integrity of national control system for animal health" and "Improved local biodiversity".
