On Thursday 21 October 2010, a Ministerial written statement was made by Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, giving further detail on the DCMS Spending Review settlement.

Drawing on this statement, other announcements since 20 October and the Local Growth White Paper, this briefing summarises the key aspects of the Spending Review 2010 for local authority cultural services in London, and specifically the impact on culture, sport and 2012. The briefing gives an overview of the likely impact, detail on the impact in specific service areas and concludes with the full financial data on the DCMS cuts in tabular form.

The impact of the Spending Review on culture, sport and 2012 will not be known fully for some time. London Councils will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
