The Mayor of London is responsible for producing a Cultural Strategy for the capital, which is statutory requirement of the Greater London Authority Act 1999.
On 15 November 2010 the Mayor published Cultural Metropolis Opens in a new window, his Cultural Strategy for London.
London Councils worked closely with the GLA to ensure that the views of London’s local authorities are represented in the Strategy and has been an active member of the London Cultural Strategy Group which was formed to oversee the development and implementation of the Strategy.
We also organised consultation seminars for elected members and officers to discuss the Cultural Strategy and joint working between the GLA and boroughs.
London Councils submitted a response to the Draft Strategy published in June 2010 and also submitted a response to the direction-of-travel document published in 2008.
