London’s boroughs are using the inspiration of the 2012 Games to create lasting benefits in their communities through Sport

The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic are a fantastic opportunity to inspire people in London to become more active, encouraging Londoners of all ages and from all backgrounds to get involved in a range of different sports and physical activities. The six weeks of the Games are important not only to act as a stimulus for our country's own talented athletes, but to inspire individuals and communities, at all levels of ability and/ or fitness, to try new sports and be more physically active.

Local authorities are the key to delivering a legacy for London after the last athletes have left the Olympic Park. The 32 London boroughs and the City of London fund and provide more sporting opportunities for people of all ages than the other sports agencies put together.

Boroughs are using the 2012 Games to inspire their communities to try new sports and become more physically active. They are helping to improve the fitness of millions of Londoners by offering a host of sporting activities in their communities.

Boroughs are also at the forefront of developing the next generation of elite athletes through providing schemes to nurture local talent.
