Improving Local Areas

The 2012 Games taking place in London offers unique social and cultural opportunities. It will also shine a spotlight on London, when the eyes of the world are upon us for the period of the Games.

Alongside the major regeneration of east-London, many London boroughs are using the opportunity of the Games to deliver significant physical improvements for their community and visitors.

Examples include making improvements in the public realm, innovative transports projects and new community-use facilities. While these projects will show London in the best light to visitors and the world-wide audience, these projects will also leave a footprint on London from the Games that will endure and that deliver genuine improvements for Londoners for years to come.
