Improving Choices for Young People Group

Improving Choices for Young People (ICYP) Group

To navigate the increasingly complex and competitive worlds of education and work young people need to understand the opportunities open to them inside and outside of education. High quality, impartial career education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) can equip young people to make the right choices, progress into work they enjoy and contribute to society.

The ICYP group supports local authorities, in partnership with educators, employers and guidance providers, to meet their responsibility for supporting 14-19 year olds to make informed choices about their future education and work. The ICYP group works through:

  • sharing effective practice
  • developing regional guidance to inform pan-London working
  • leading regional practice that delivers local benefits
  • providing challenge and support to the London area-wide prospectus, UCAS Progress Opens in a new window.

The ICYP Group is chaired by a local authority representative.  Members include up to ten local authority representatives; Connexions, a careers contractor, a school, a college or WBL provider and an employer.
