Careers Guidance Transition Framework

The Careers Transition Framework has been designed to support London's local authorities and secondary schools in their preparation for delivering impartial and independent careers guidance provision that meets the needs of young people and the requirements of new statutory duties that will commence from September 2012.

The Framework has been developed in response to requests for help with understanding the changes to careers guidance responsibilities and how those changes fit within the context of other education reforms.

The Framework is intentionally compact - offering a starting point for local authorities and schools from which more detailed, local plans can be created.

Although the changes do not come into effect until September 2012, the transition of responsibilities for careers guidance will need to be managed carefully in advance to secure continuity in the provision of a high quality programme of careers education, guidance and support for young people in London. The Framework and other documents here are intended to support colleagues in this work.
