Spreading excellence and innovation across alternative provision in London

Following on from recent developments of the London Youth Crime Prevention Board’s work on improving PRU alternative provision in London the Department for Children, Schools and families have confirmed that three year funding will be received for a pan-London PRU improvement project to lead improvement work in the PRU sector in London.

The bid has been shaped by a strong partnership of key agencies involved in alternative provision in London, including National Strategies, London Councils and Government Office for London as well as a number of PRU heads and borough leads on behaviour and attendance.

The pan- London project will include 2 phases. Phase 1 will look at research and development of strategic tools which will include a curriculum development model and an information-sharing practice guide. Phase 2 will be an dissemination of best practice to ensure that all PRU are equipped with appropriate, high quality tools to improve provision.

The project will be managed through London Councils, who will be setting up an advisory group to oversee the project delivery.
