Our Policy Work

London Councils carries out a wide range of policy work covering all the important issues for our member authorities, and Londoners. Summaries of the main work areas are set out below. Regular updates of current work can be found in our Policy Updates.

Transport and Environment

Transport and environmental issues are top priorities for London boroughs.  Our policy teams work across both fields, originating and helping the boroughs to implement initiatives to make London a cleaner, safer city.  Our recent work includes steering legislation through parliament to give boroughs tougher powers to control nuisances such as graffiti and flyposting, and leading a campaign to ban plastic and other throwaway shopping bags.
