Love Food Hate Waste
Love Food Hate Waste will between now and 2020 run a digital campaign and have a physical presence in boroughs. Love Food Hate Waste will promote tips to prevent food waste and increase its capture when it is unavoidable. It is delivered by WRAP in partnership with LWARB.
London Assembly Investigation
In April 2014, the London Assembly's environment committee launched an investigation to understand how to improve the management of food waste in London, and to identify mechanisms to reduce the quantity that goes to landfill to zero.
In June 2014, we submitted our response to this investigation which asked the environment committee to consider the following key points:
- to acknowledge boroughs are best placed to make local decisions that best serve the needs of their residents, including in relation to waste management
- to recognise the efforts London boroughs are making to continue to improve waste management, in particular food waste, within the context of the current difficult financial climate
- to emphasise the importance of more pan-London approaches in waste prevention which can be capitalised on at local level
- to support the proposals for devolution of the landfill tax to London, so that it can be reinvested in infrastructure which can help improve the management of domestic waste in the capital.

The environment committee has now published its report. We have reviewed the recommendations which involve us and will be considering how to take these forward with our partners.
