Volunteer Role Development

  • By London Councils

In association with trade unions library services have developed and agreed volunteering roles that complement and add value to library services, such as:

  • supporting children’s activities
  • supporting the use of library service computers
  • supporting reader development.

Important note

Delivery of London’s Public Library Services varies from borough to borough; the following roles were all agreed by the respective borough’s trades unions. The example role descriptions may be useful for others seeking to develop roles for volunteering, but it is essential that these are cleared by your own trades unions prior to being introduced.
